From small, simple wooden frames that can be stained or painted… to 20’ x 30’ industry standard, energy-efficient aluminum frames that substantially decrease heating and cooling bills for large buildings… JDT Studio has done it all. As a professional stained glass studio we have the unique ability to not only frame a window but also to alter the window itself by increasing or decreasing it’s height or width in various ways. Our glass alterations in combination with our custom framing options give our clients a perfect-fitting final product every time.

Q: "What type of frame does JDT Studio use?"
A: For smaller stained glass window projects, our clients will typically choose to have a custom mahogany, walnut, maple, cedar, fir, pine, or poplar wood frame made that will inset into another preexisting window casting that they have. When it comes to larger window projects for churches and buildings, the industry standard Church Series 6400 and 4200 Frames are what we use. The 6400 and 4200 Series Frames are built specifically for churches as they contain both a clear-glass exterior window channel as well as a stained glass window channel that allows for the optimal amount of air passage between the two; these frames are built for maximum energy efficiency and are fantastic at keeping cool air in during the summer and warm air in during the winter.
Q: “How do you alter a stained glass window?”
A: There are numerous ways that we have had to alter a window for a client in order to repurpose it for it’s new life in a different location. Sometimes we add border glass on in order to increase the overall size; alternatively sometimes we will need to remove border glass so that, once it is framed, it will be a perfect fit. We can turn rectangular windows into arched-top windows (or vise-versa) and even alter larger windows into round windows.
